We continue our look at the teams who will make the Extra Elite Eighty 14U club rankings launching on Monday and head to San Mateo, California to highlight Ray McDonald’s West Bay Warrior’s team.
We’ll admit it: we’ve been high on the Warriors ever since they were one of the first programs we spotlighted shorty after launching Extra Inning Softball—for more on the organization, click on our Feb. 16, 2018 article Club on the Rise: West Bay Warriors Battling in NorCal.
More than a year later, the program is thriving and the 14U team is one of the Best in the West… and in the Nation.
Here’s 5 big reasons why the team will be a force this summer…
*****
1. Strong Returning 2022 Class
McDonald’s team has starters who have played at the highest club levels:
- SS Megan Grant
- C/1B Olivia DiNardo
- P Kate Heuser
- OF Gabby Lee
- 3B Brooke Deppiesse
- 1B Alex Bunton
- 2B Sophia Siu
2. Infusion of Young Talent
* the 14U team adds the top two 2023 offensive threats from the 12U roster from last year: Lexi O’Gorman and Hannah Cushing.
* Both were in the starting lineup for the 2017 Top 10 finish at 12U PGF Nationals (also included Megan Grant, Olivia DiNardo, Gabby Lee, and Alex Bunton)
* Lexi O’Gorman and Hannah Cushing also finished Top 20 in the 2018 12U PGF Nationals.
