When the Big East reorganized and reformatted in 2013, basketball was at the center of the new happenings. Softball likely wasn’t on the radar; why would it be? Who knew that less than a decade later the league would be on the cusp of placing multiple teams into the NCAA tournament?
Thanks to the lack of conference play in 2020, DePaul entered the 2021 season seeking to extend their run of conference titles to the half-decade mark. The Blue Demons reached the NCAA tournament in three straight years from 2017-19, the first Big East squad to go back-to-back-to-back since the early 1990s.
