
When the Big Ten decided to limit their softball teams to a conference-only season last year, it was a decision that handicapped the conference’s offering on the diamond and, ultimately, saw the league virtually penalized when the NCAA tournament came around. At season’s end, though, a familiar name stood atop the league standings: Michigan.
The Wolverines’ two-headed monster in the pitching circle once-again wreaked havoc on opposing offenses, and the Wolverines were the only Big Ten team even considered for potential Regional-hosting duties. Despite being ultimately placed as the 2-seed at Washington, the Wolverines gave the hosting Huskies all they could handle before ultimately falling in the winner-take-all final game.
As the 2022 season nears, the Wolverines are a hungry, motivated squad bursting with talent.
