From January 3 through the beginning of the regular season, we’re going to take a look at every Division 1 conference and Forecast what to expect in each league this season. Today, we take a look at the Horizon League.
I. Conference Breakdown
Ten softball programs make up the Horizon League. Those programs include Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, and Youngstown State.
Youngstown State went 28-8 in conference play and took home the regular-season conference title. In the conference tournament, it was 3rd-seeded UIC who eeked out the tournament championship over 2nd-seeded Oakland, and the Flames earned the right to represent the league in the NCAA tournament.
