As part of our in-depth preseason college softball coverage, today we dive into the SEC and forecast what could be in store for the league during the 2023 season.
For our remaining Conference Forecasts in 2023, we’ve also added a team-by-team breakdown and analysis of every program in the conference. Check that out in Section XI below.
1. Conference Breakdown
Arkansas won their second-consecutive SEC championship last year, capping off their run through the league with their inaugural SEC tournament title. Twelve SEC teams made the NCAA tournament, with South Carolina the lone exception. Florida, who played from the #14 national seed, was the only SEC team to reach the Women’s College World Series.
The same thirteen teams still make up the current SEC softball standings – Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
