Jeremy Higdon not only runs teams in the Fury Platinum organization out of Tennessee, he also runs top-line showcase events such as Scenic City and this year the Sand Dollar Classic on the college side so when he says he has a player of note we listen.
Two aspects he mentioned of his rising star pitcher are smarts and work ethic and those were also noted by her future college coach, Beth Torina of LSU.
When you put those two together—notably, a student-athlete whose favorite course is Math and is already getting attention and awards in the subject—you get an 8th grader from New York who plays on a Tennessee club team and will spend her college years in Louisiana…

It’s always fun to hear how a player commits… tell us how you told LSU you would be a future Tiger…
(Fury Coach) Jeremy Higdon planned a call for us with Coach Beth for after their last game against Auburn. I was sitting in my dining room with my mom, dad, and brother. I was speechless, so my mom did most of the talking. I was so happy (as was the rest of my family) when we hung up I went running down the street to tell my grandmother.
Do you remember when they first starting following you and what was it they said that led them to offer?
They had first started following me my first fall playing down south, which was the fall of 2016. Well, I knew they were interested when they invited me to my unofficial, but at the end of the second camp this past December, we were talking to Coach Beth and she seemed very interested. Coach Beth said my work ethic and intelligence led them to offer, I can make most corrections easily and pick things up rapidly.
What led you to pick the Tigers over other schools?
The thing that made me choose the Tigers over other schools was the family environment of the team. I also love all the coaches and that it’s in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
What were your thoughts about the university and its Bayou location?
I really like the campus and I love the area it’s in. I am really looking forward to spending my college years down there.
It’s almost commonplace now for 8th graders to commit… what led you to commit now as opposed to waiting, perhaps until after the summer?
The reason I committed now instead of waiting is because I knew that LSU is where I want to be and the opportunity arose when Coach Beth offered so I took it.
