Yesterday Extra Inning Softball broke the news that one of the top prospects in the 2018 class, Kassidy Krupit, had received a full release after signing with Delaware last fall and committed to Baylor.
That type of change is pretty rare—in this case the release was granted after there was a coaching change and Krupit wanted to explore other options. Many times—if not most of the time—athletes end up staying with the school they signed with.
What is more typical—and we’re seeing it in this week’s list quite a bit—is players changing club teams for one reason or another. The biggest example of that this week was Sam Roe, an outstanding 2022 catcher from Florida who has decided to stay in-state and play for the Florida Gators.
Sam was originally with the Birmingham Thunderbolts organization before deciding to play for a higher age team in the Georgia Impact program and now has gone back to Ted Flannery’s Bolts team, one of the most loaded 14U teams in the nation.
We’re also seeing a lot of players who, for one reason or another, weren’t originally reported as being committed or signed and are now being “discovered.” As we continually comb through club team rosters we see these types of additions or corrections.
This weekend, for example, is the highly touted So Cal A’s Invitational which you can watch for FREE starting Friday morning. Games begin at 9 am PST and you can get the list of teams and game times by clicking here.
We went through several of the rosters of teams in the A’s Invitational and you’ll see many of these teams have players which we’ve added or updated.
Finally, be sure to also check out the Team1 Elite Championships which we’re also live streaming starting Friday. Just sign up for FREE and you’ll get to watch both events AND the Team USA & Scrap Yard Fast Pitch games too!
