San Francisco State head coach Alicia Reid earned her 100th career win in a 3-2 win over Hawaii Pacific on Friday.
As the Gators’ leader celebrates the milestone victory, here are Five Fast Facts about her career.
1. This is her sixth year, but fifth season, leading the Gators program.
Reid took the helm of the SF State program in the summer of 2017; her first season in charge was the 2018 campaign. She had guided the Gators ever since, including through the 2020 shortened season and through the pandemic-induced cancellation of the 2021 campaign.
2. She is the fastest coach in SF State history to reach the milestone.
Win #100 came in Reid’s 195th career game as head coach, making her the fastest SF State head coach to reach the milestone number. She is the fourth head coach in program history to reach triple-digits with her win total.
3. Under her guidance, the Gators broke a decade-long postseason drought.
When SF State reached the NCAA tournament in 2019, they did so for the first time since 2006. The postseason drought stretched thirteen seasons and across multiple head coaches.
4. She began her coaching career at her alma mater.
After graduating from Humboldt State following the 2012 season, Reid spent five seasons on staff with the Lumberjacks. The program won more than 200 games and made three NCAA championship appearances during that time. She was also part of three Regional Coaching Staffs of the Year.
5. She played multiple sports early in her college career.
Prior to transferring to Humboldt State, Reid began her college career at Stanislaus State. She played softball for two years and was also a member of the women’s basketball team as a freshman.
