The Oklahoma City Spark named Amber Flores as the franchise’s new head coach on Wednesday.
Flores, who is and will also remain as the head coach at Seminole State University, will lead the Spark during their inaugural season in 2023. The Spark were announced in late summer as the third and newest team joining the Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) league.
Entering her 10th season as Seminole State head coach, Flores has led the program to five Junior College World Series appearances during her tenure and owns an .808 career winning percentage with the Trojans.
A five-time NJCAA Region 2 Coach of the Year, Flores has earned the award in four of the last five seasons, with the exception of only the 2020 campaign.
In a team statement, Flores said “”I could not be more excited to be named the Head Coach of the Oklahoma City Spark in its inaugural season. I would like to thank Tina and Robert Floyd for allowing me to lead an unbelievable group of women and introduce the state of Oklahoma to professional softball. Exciting times lay ahead for the state of Oklahoma and professional softball. I am excited about the challenge of building something special in the WPF with the community’s support. I look forward to seeing everyone at the ball field next summer; GO SPARK.”
