Western Kentucky head coach Amy Tudor earned her 500th career win on Saturday in a 9-0 triumph over Evansville.
As the Hilltoppers’ leader celebrates the milestone victory, here are Five Fast Facts about her career.
1. She’s coaching at her alma mater.
A 2002 WKU graduate, Tudor spent three years on the Hilltopper softball roster, serving as a team captain three times and as part of the inaugural WKU softball roster. She still stands fourth all-time in program history in baserunners thrown out.
2. WKU is the fourth program she has led as head coach.
Prior to returning to her alma mater ahead of the 2014 season, Tudor spent time as head coach at IPFW, Belmont, and Ohio Wesleyan. In total, she has spent nearly two decades as a collegiate head coach.
3. Of her 500 wins, 283 have come in Bowling Green.
Since arriving back at WKU ahead of the 2014 campaign, Tudor has collected nearly 300 victories with the Hilltoppers alone. The number puts her atop the program’s coaching wins list by a healthy margin; she is the only coach to reach 200 wins in Bowling Green.
4. She is the longest-tenured coach in WKU program history.
The fourth head coach to lead the WKU program, Tudor is not only the winningest, but also the longest-tenured. When she began her 7th season as head coach in 2020, she officially registered as the longest-tenured leader and has added to that longevity ever since.
5. She was a multi-sport athlete in high school.
In addition to her softball success, Tudor also played basketball in high school and in junior college before moving to WKU. In high school, she was her school’s all-time leading scorer and assist leader and saw her #9 jersey retired by Cornersville High School in 1998.
