Angelo State head coach Travis Scott recorded his 900th career win on Sunday afternoon.
Scott recorded the milestone victory in a 4-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the second part of a road doubleheader against the Javelinas. The win moved Angelo State to 33-8 on the season.
As the Rambelles’ leader celebrates his achievement, here are Five Fast Facts about him and his career.
1. He has spent nearly two decades leading the Angelo State program.
Scott took the helm of the ASU program ahead of the 2004 season and has guided the Rambelles ever since. He is nearing the 800-win mark at Angelo State alone, now just one victory shy of that additional milestone.
2. He is a seven-time Coach of the Year.
The Lone Star Conference’s Coach of the Year award has gone Scott’s way quite a bit during his tenure at Angelo State. A trophy he has been awarded seven times, Scott most recently earned the title in 2018.
3. He is a national champion.
In Scott’s first season as Angelo State’s head coach, he guided the Rambelles to the Division II national title. The program returned to the national championship game in 2017 and finished as national runners-up.
4. He has averaged more than 40 wins a year at ASU.
During his near two-decades-long tenure at Angelo State, Scott has averaged 41 wins a year. In 2017, the Rambelles reached the 60-win plateau; a year later, the program earned 53 victories.
5. He was a standout college baseball player.
During his own college playing career in the 1990s, Scott suited up for Southeastern Oklahoma and was the starting third baseman on the 1990 squad that reached the NAIA College World Series and finished fourth in the tournament.
