Troy has hired Anna Shelnutt as an assistant coach.
Shelnutt was part of the Florida State team that won the Women’s College World Series national championship in 2018. She earned the nickname “Postseason Anna” during the Noles’ run thanks to her performances in clutch situations and was named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team.
The position is Shelnutt’s first collegiate coaching role. She spent the last year working as a private instructor in Georgia after earning her Master’s degree from Florida State in 2021.
A stellar defensive catcher during her career as a Seminole, Shelnutt is the program’s career leader in putouts and ranks in the program’s all-time top ten in fielding percentage (5th), hit by pitches (8th), and home runs (10th).
In a school statement, Shelnutt said, “I am beyond excited for the opportunity to become a part of the Troy Softball family. Having played five years of softball at Florida State alongside some of the most elite players of the game, I have been blessed to learn from some of the greatest minds in the sport of softball. I am excited to share the knowledge with the Trojan program and add to the culture and competitiveness of Troy Softball. My goal is to be a coach and mentor who instills the importance of being a great player, teammate, and female leader, both on and off the field. I can’t wait to get started and see what the future holds.”
