Former Michigan Standout Annabelle Widra Transferring to Auburn

Annabelle Widra is transferring to Auburn, she announced on social media on Sunday evening.

“First off I want to thank the good Lord because he is so good,” Widra wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to my Michigan family for loving this southern belle and supporting her through it all. I am so happy and so excited to say i’ll be finishing my career and getting my degree at Auburn University!! Im so excited for this chapter and can’t thank my sweet family for all the love and support through it all. War Eagle baby”

Widra was a true freshman in 2022 and finished the year with a 1.73 ERA in just over 32 innings of work. Widra had a WHIP of 0.90, collected two wins, and struck out 31 batters. Opponents hit just .190 against her in limited work.

A dual-threat player, Widra also assembled a .255 batting average with a home run, eleven RBIs, three doubles, and a .700 OPS to her credit. She earned 106 at-bats on the year, starting 38 games in total.

Hoover, Alabama – Widra’s hometown – is two hours from Auburn. She played for and graduated from Spain Park High School in Hoover.

Widra joins an Auburn pitching staff that collected a 2.62 staff ERA and notched an opponent’s batting average of .217 this season. The Tigers were led by emerging ace Maddie Penta (24-10, 1.76) and saw significant action from Shelby Lowe (9-3, 2.81) and KK Dismukes (6-4, 3.00). The Tigers were eliminated in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, falling in the Clemson regional.
