Blog: Florida Commit Keagan Rothrock On Why A Good Catcher Is Critical to Success

Keagan Rothrock shows her appreciation to Bandits catcher Mak Penning.

Keagan Rothrock is one of the elite players in the Class of 2023 and committed to Florida last December over other major programs in the Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.

The outstanding pitcher is 12U eligible, but plays at 14U with the Beverly Bandits-Harkness team and is the ace on one of the three Beverly Bandits teams to make the Extra Inning Softball Elite Club 50 Team Rankings.

Two years ago, Keagan helped TN Mojo 2023 win the PGF 10U National Championship and in 2017, as a first-year player, she pitched the Bandits to a 3rd place finish at PGF 12U Nationals.

The Gator commit has been clocked at 64 mph and also throws a screwball and curve with her strikeout pitch being her riseball.

In previous blogs for Extra Inning Softball, Keagan talked about what she was told she can and can’t do with the new recruiting rules and revealed the three places you’ll most likely find her and why, more often than not, you won’t find her at school on Fridays!

Pitchers aren’t the only key to winning a game: in order to pitch a strike, they need someone to catch it and who is that someone? It’s your catcher, of course!
