Samantha (“Sam”) Roe was rated by Extra Inning Softball as one of the Top 5 players in the Extra Elite 100 for the Class of 2022 and the catcher/infielder who is committed to Florida is a regular blogger for Extra Inning Softball.
Sam, though just an 8th grader, earned Florida 3A All-State honors as she led her high school team, Rocky Bayou Christian School (Niceville, Florida), to the 3A Final Four in May with a .627 batting average and a ridiculous 2.065 OPS.
She was so dominating at the plate that 31 of her 45 hits were for extra bases and she also knocked in 46 runs while not striking out once all year (87 plate appearances).
If you haven’t read her previous blogs, you’ll definitely want to check them out, including her an earlier one telling her special story about being adopted.
Today, she talks about the rollercoaster ride of emotions that hit her and her Lady Knight teammates as they travelled to the state playoffs and found out some significant news after the season ended…

Part of life is losing and even though winning is fun, we learn from loss.
I’ve played high school ball at Rocky Bayou Christian School since I was in the 6th grade and every year has had great memories, but this year was particularly special: the Rocky Bayou Knights made it to the state for the first time in school history.
Early in the season, our coaches Lynn and Jason Holcomb along with Lisa Eaves, told us that our goal should be to make it to the Final Four.
As a team we accepted the challenge!
