Creighton and head coach Brent Vigness are parting ways, the school announced on Friday.
Vigness spent 29 years as the Blue Jays’ leader, collecting more than 800 wins during his tenure leading the program. He finishes his time in Omaha with an overall record of 819-637-3.
Under Vigness’ guidance, the Blue Jays record a 347-241-1 record in conference play. That record stretches across the program’s time in the Missouri Valley Conference and the Big East, their current league.
A four-time conference Coach of the Year while in the Missouri Valley, Vigness was just the second coach in Creighton program history. In 2010, Vigness left Creighton and was announced as the next head coach at Wisconsin, but changed his mind and returned to the helm of the Blue Jays’ program less than a week later.
Creighton finished the 2022 season 15-27 overall and 5-17 in Big East play.
