Dan Sperl has been named the new head coach at Cal State Bakersfield, the school announced.
Most recently, Sperl was a sports information director at CSUB, working with the school’s men’s soccer; wrestling; swimming and diving; and baseball teams. He also worked on ESPN+ broadcasts for the softball team during his time on the athletic department staff.
He served as the program’s interim softball coach this summer, following previous head coach Crissy Buck-Ziegler’s dismissal in May.
Sperl previously spent two stints as an assistant softball coach at Jacksonville, most recently coaching in 2015, and also previously spent time on the coaching staffs at Western Washington and George Washington.
