Former Army and Tufts head coach Cheryl Milligan has been named interim head coach at East Tennessee State.
Milligan stepped down from her post at Army in August after spending the last three seasons leading the program. She cited family time as a factor in her decision at the time; Milligan’s husband is currently the pitching coach for the ETSU baseball program.
During her head coaching career at Army and previously at Division III Tufts, Milligan has collected 540 wins and an overall record of 540-208.
In fifteen years as head coach at Tufts, Milligan collected 490 wins and led the Jumbos’ program to five appearances in the D3 World Series and three national championships. Those national titles occurred in consecutive years from 2013-15, the first time that a “three-peat” had been accomplished at the Division 3 level.
ETSU finished the 2022 season with an 8-48 overall record; former head coach Belinda Hendrix was ousted in mid-November after one season as head coach.
