Fordham has signed head coach Melissa Inouye to a contract extension. The new deal will keep Inouye in the Bronx through the 2025 season.
“Coach Inouye came to Fordham with a passion for further advancing the momentum of our elite softball program,” Fordham athletic director Ed Kull said in a school statement. “We believe she is the right leader to take the program to the next level and our alumni and fans are excited about the future of Fordham Softball.”
Inouye took over the Fordham program prior to the 2019 season and led the Rams to the Atlantic 10 title and an NCAA Regional berth in her inaugural year. She was named A10 Coach of the Year after the season. In 2021, the Rams finished with a 37-10 overall record and a 17-3 showing in conference play, finishing as the league runners-up in the regular season standings and at the conference tournament.
Prior to her tenure at Fordham, Inouye had been head coach at Iona and also previously spent a stint as an assistant coach with the Rams.
