Pitcher Danielle O’Toole was crowned the champion of Athletes Unlimited‘s inaugural AUX title on Saturday night.
The three-series AUX “season” ended with a pair of games on Saturday; O’Toole, a team captain for the final week, captured the title after posting traditional statistics that included a 1.69 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and four wins during the three-week AUX endeavor.
In a provided statement after her victory, O’Toole said, ““It’s pretty wild. I came into AUX thinking this was going to be a great tune-up for our Championship season next month in Chicago. I just wanted to get on the field, grind it out and compete. Winning was totally not in my head but I am thrilled that I came out on top after a challenging two weeks of great competition here in San Diego.”
Behind O’Toole in the AUX standings were fellow pitcher Rachel Garcia and catcher Dejah Mulipola, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Following AUX, the third year of Athletes Unlimited‘s full softball season will take place beginning on July 29th in Rosemont, Illinois.
