Texas A&M-Kingsville has hired Doug Eastman as the program’s new head coach.
Eastman takes over the Javelina program after a decades-long stint as a junior college head coach. He spent the last eight years as head coach at Yavapai College and previously spent a 12-year tenure leading the College of the Siskiyous program in California.
During his tenure at Yavapai, Eastman led the program to a total of 343 wins, averaging out to nearly 43 wins a year.
In the 2022 season, Eastman guided the Yavapai program to a 57-6 showing and a 5th-place national finish. The Roughriders hit 198 home runs during the year, including nine players who reached double-digits in longballs.
Athletic director Steve Roach, in a school statement, said “I’m excited for our student-athletes and for the Javelina softball program to have Doug be the next head coach. Doug brings a wealth of experience and a background that will provide our student-athletes with the chance to continue excelling both on and off the field.”
Eastman’s assistant at Yavapai, Erika Bennett, is expected to follow him to Kingsville, sources told Extra Inning Softball.
