Extra Inning Softball Partners with Empowering Girls for Life Convention (Aug 11-12, 2018)

Extra Inning Softball is excited to announce our partnership with what will be a transcendent event coming up later this summer, the Empowering Girls for Life Convention to take place August 11 & 12 in Rosemont, Illinois at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

Extra Inning Softball will be the official streaming partner with the event and provide extensive pre-event, during and post-convention content including interviews with many of the legendary athletes and coaches not just in softball, but in women’s sports ranging from soccer to volleyball to gymnastics.

Jennie Finch

On the softball side, speakers will include Jennie Finch, the Olympic Gold Medalist, NCAA All-American Champion & National Player of the Year; Patty Gasso, the two-time defending NCAA Division I National Championship Coach at Oklahoma and Carol Hutchins, the 33-year head coach at Michigan who is the winningest head coach in NCAA Division I softball history with nearly 1,500 career victories.

Non-softball notables include Christa Dietzen, Captain of the U.S.A Women’s National Indoor Volleyball Team and World Championship Gold Medalist as well as Laurie Hernandez, U.S.A. Gymnastics Gold Medalist plus several other USA Gold medalists, NCAA National Champions and well respected women leaders.

The idea of the weekend convention came when a group of accomplished women across a multitude of sports asked themselves the question, “What if you could help create the women leaders of tomorrow by empowering girls today?”

Not long afterwards, the non-profit Empowering Girls for Life (EGFL) organization was born with the idea of hosting an inaugural event designed to be a multifaceted, multimedia two-day gathering of women leaders in athletics, business, entertainment and education along with girls and their families

Alexis Mack

Alexis Mack, the outstanding outfielder and leadoff hitter for the No. 4-ranked Oregon Ducks, is a guest speaker and the Public Relations Spokeswoman for EGFL.

Speaking as to why she became involved, Mack explains: “I was given an amazing opportunity to help launch the annual EGFL Convention that will enable young girls and their families to experience and learn from a variety of strong women with various sports and business leadership backgrounds.”

“What we have put together now will be the foundation for years to come.”

EGFL will provide a platform built especially for girls ages 7 to 17 to meet and interact with high profile women with proven track records of success in their respective fields.

Over 1,200 girls and family members are expected each day as well as 300 additional girls during each VIP session.  Tickets are $35 for each person per session.

In addition, NCSA is doing testing measurables for all sports at the Rosemont Dome on Friday evening preceding the start of the convention and all data will be included in the NCSA National database to help allow college coaches to find the athletes that they need for their programs.

EGFL will also help girls and their parents get a head start on important pre-college necessities like ACT/SAT testing, financial aid opportunities, and the college selection process

More information can be found on the Empowering Girls for Life Convention website.

Here is the agenda for the weekend as it currently stands:
