All week long, we have been counting down the Top 50 College Head Coaches. Yesterday, we named Oklahoma’s Patty Gasso, Michigan’s Carol Hutchins, and Florida’s Tim Walton as the three best in the nation, at any level.
Since a few folks have asked, yes, this list only encompasses head coaches. There are some top-level assistants out there, but in an effort for a more streamlined list of criteria, we focused solely on head coaches. Speaking of that criteria, both recent success and career success were considered on a fairly equal playing field when it came to ranking these coaches. Career longevity was also weighed; coaches with fewer than three years of head coaching experience were not considered for the list.
