Former Florida International player Kennah Orr Gervais passed away earlier this week at age 30.
Gervais, a 2014 alum of FIU, passed away after a brave battle against cancer.
She spent four years on the FIU softball team, from 2011-14, with her best statistical season coming in 2013 when she batted .261 with four RBIs, two runs scored, eight walks, and a stolen base. That season, she finished with the 5th-highest batting average on the Panthers’ roster.
She graduated from FIU with a degree in criminology and public administration and later earned her Master’s degree in criminal justice management from Webber International.
She is survived by her husband Sam and daughter Kylar, her parents, a brother, and other family members. A PayPal donation link was set up for her family to help with accrued expense; that fund can be found by clicking here.
On Friday, LSU’s softball team will wear teal jerseys in their series opener against Auburn in Gervais’ honor. LSU head coach Beth Torina coached Gervais at FIU.
One of the greatest teammates I’ve ever had the privilege to coach. I feel fortunate to have been part of her life. An incredible teammate, friend, daughter and mother. Tonight @LSUsoftball will be wearing our teal jerseys to honor Kennah and all those touched by cervical cancer. https://t.co/1gV0xY3f8K
