Arizona State alumnus Annie Lockwood has been named the new head coach at Skagit Valley College.
Lockwood was part of the 2011 Arizona State team that won the Women’s College World Series national title, and she was a member of the WCWS All-Tournament Team that same year.
Most recently, Lockwood was an assistant coach at Redmond High School and has previously coached collegiately at both South Dakota and Arizona State. Her resume also includes stints in the private coaching and high school coaching sectors.
In a school statement, Skagit Valley athletic director Mitch Freeman said, “We are thrilled to be able to hire a coach that knows what it takes to win a championship. Annie has seen what it’s like to win a championship as a player at Arizona State University and as a coach this past year at Redmond High School. She is very competitive and understands the importance of creating a successful softball culture that starts with developing well-rounded student-athletes.”
While at Skyline High School in Arizona, Lockwood earned a pair of Coach of the Year awards in 2014, including being named the Arizona Big Schools Coach of the Year.
Skagit Valley College is a community college in Mount Vernon, Washington, located in the northwestern part of Washington state. The Cardinals finished the 2022 season with a 20-20 overall record, including an 0-2 showing in the NWAC tournament.
