Former Travel Ball Coach Pleads Guilty to Attempted Child Exploitation Charge

A former high school and travel ball coach in Colorado pleaded guilty on Monday to a serious charge.

Paul “Pablo” Severtson, 37, pled to attempted child sexual exploitation, according to local media reports. He was initially arrested in July, accused of soliciting explicit photos from an underage girl in Virginia.

Based on similar local reports, the investigation into Severtson began after the girl in Virginia died by suicide in October 2021. While investigating her death, the sheriff’s office in Virginia discovered communications she had with Severtson via several social media apps. Those conversations, per reports, included chats via the app “KIK” in September 2021 that included photos of the girl partially nude, but never fully exposed.

On the various apps, Severtson used multiple aliases and passed himself off as being 22 or 23 years old.

Severtson coached at Cherry Creek High School and for the Colorado Styx organization at the time of his arrest. He was terminated from both positions following his arrest in July.

Severtson is scheduled to be sentenced on February 13th.
