Jennifer Patrick-Swift has been relieved of duty as NC State’s head coach, the school announced on Thursday.
Patrick-Swift’s departure is effective immediately,
“After careful consideration, we decided to make a change in the leadership of our softball program. We will begin a national search following the conclusion of the season. We wish Jennifer the best in the future,” athletic director Boo Corrigan said in statement.
Assistant Coach Patrick Swift will also not return, acording to the statement.
NC State is scheduled to begin a three-game series to open conference play at Virginia Tech on Friday.
Asked who will serve as interim head coach, an NC State spokesperson told Extra Inning Softball: “Assistant coach Deven Boland will be responsible for on-field duties and Deputy AD Stephanie Menio will handle all off-field duties.”
