
Canadian Olympian and veteran coach Joey Lye is joining the coaching staff at Williams College.
A 2009 Williams alumnus, Lye returns to the college coaching ranks after a three-year absence. Her resume includes three years as head coach at Division 1 Bucknell, where she was named Patriot League Coach of the Year in 2019. She left Bucknell to concentrate full-time on training for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Lye additionally has been head coach at Stevenson University and Lebanon Valley College, also coaching ice hockey at both schools. She began her coaching career at Williams as an asssistant softball and hockey coach and later served as interim head coach of the women’s hockey program with the Ephs.
In addition to her lengthy tenure playing for the Canadian national team – where she participated as part of the bronze-medal-winning Tokyo Olympic squad – Lye played in the inaugural summer season of Athletes Unlimited and served as a facilitator for the league’s second season.
“Excitedly entering my 20th championship season as a coach, back where it all began! See you so soon for a coaching adventure like never before!” Lye wrote on Twitter last week.
