Catcher Julia Cottrill is transferring to Texas A&M, the school announced on Thursday.
As this will be Cottrill’s third school in four years and her second time transferring, questions about her immediate eligibility remain. It is possible that she may have to sit out the 2023 season; a waiver from the NCAA allowing her to play right away would be required.
Cottrill entered the transfer portal from Oklahoma State in early July.
She spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as part of the Florida roster. As a freshman, Cottrill batted .323 in 25 games for the Gators during the abbreviated 2020 season, recording 11 RBIs and scoring 10 runs on the shortened year. During her sophomore season in 2021, the catcher was named to the SEC’s All-Newcomer Team and also earned third-team All-Region honors after the year.
