Austin Peay head coach Kassie Stanfill earned her 100th career win on Saturday.
Stanfill reached the milestone in a 7-1 win over SIU-Edwardsville as part of a doubleheader sweep to open the teams’ Ohio Valley Conference series in Clarksville.
As the Governors’ leader celebrates her achievement, here are Five Fast Facts about her and her career to this point.
1. She is in her fourth year as a head coach.
Stanfill’s tenure as the Govs’ head coach began with the 2019 season and includes the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. The position is the first head coaching role of her career.
2. She is the fastest coach in program history to reach the milestone.
In reaching triple-digit wins in her 172nd game as a head coach, Stanfill became the fastest coach in APSU program history to reach the 100 win mark. She is just the second coach in program history to cross the threshold at any point.
3. She has coached collegiately for more than a decade.
Before beginning her head coaching career, Stanfill spent time on staff at four different schools, including her alma mater, Louisville. Other early stops on her resume included Middle Tennessee, Ball State, and Illinois.
4. She was part of the first-ever Louisville team to host a regional.
In 2009, Stanfill was a senior on the Louisville team that was selected to host a regional. The Cardinals earned the right to play at home in the postseason for the first time in program history and won their first game of the regional round in Ulmer Stadium.
5. She was a true utility player during her own college career.
After beginning her career in a pitcher/outfield hybrid role, Stanfill suffered an injury and became Louisville’s starting first baseman during her senior year. She earned a pair of all-conference honors during her career, finished with a .293 career batting average and 27 career wins in the circle. She still ranks in the school’s career top 10 in several categories including: triples, saves, pitching strikeouts, ERA, and opponent’s batting average.
