Division II Cameron University and head coach Kayla Adams have parted ways, sources told Extra Inning Softball on Tuesday.

Adams spent three seasons as the Aggies’ head coach, with a tenure that included the 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons. She amassed a 66-53 overall record during her time leading the program, including a 33-35 mark in Lone Star Conference play.

On Tuesday morning, Adams was removed from the Cameron softball website.

The Aggies completed their 2022 season with a 25-24 overall record and a 13-17 showing against LSC opponents. The squad lost their opening game of the conference tournament, a 4-0 defeat to West Texas A&M.

Prior to taking the reins of the Cameron program, Adams had been an assistant coach at the University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma. She was part of the coaching staff that led the Drovers program to an NAIA national championship in 2018, as well as a third-place national finish in 2019.

As a player, Adams spent four years at USAO and finished her career with a .307 lifetime batting average, 25 home runs, and 132 RBIs. The catcher caught 29 runners stealing during her career behind the dish and finished her playing days with a .982 lifetime fielding percentage.
