Missouri’s Kim Wert, Wichita State’s Addison Barnard Named Extra Inning Softball Co-National Players of the Week

Missouri designated player Kim Wert and Wichita State standout Addison Barnard have been named the Extra Inning Softball Co-National Players of the Week for their efforts during Week 11 of the college softball season.

In a three-game series against Kentucky, Wert batted 6-7 at the plate (.857) with four home runs and 13 RBIs to her credit.

Barnard, for her part, batted .667 on the week with six home runs and 15 RBIs.

In game one of the series against Kentucky, Wert hit a three-run home run in the first inning to start the scoring for her team, then added a grand slam in the second inning that gave her seven RBIs on the day. She also hit a single in the fourth inning that led to another run scoring on an error, though she didn’t receive an RBI on that play.

Wert added another home run in game two of the series and was a perfect 1-1 at the plate, collecting a pair of RBIs and walking three times in the game. In Monday night’s series finale, she was 2-3 with a 4th-inning grand slam to her credit, her second 4-RBI home run of the weekend.

Across a four-game week, Barnard had yet another sensational offensive week in Week 11. In a midweek run-rule win over Kansas, Barnard hit a pair of home runs, each of them a 2-run shot, and totaled five RBIs in the game. She was a perfect 2-2 at the dish, with a sacrifice fly also to her credit.

In a weekend series against Memphis, Barnard recorded multi-hit outings in each games, going 6-10 in the 3-game set, with four home runs and eight RBIs to her credit against the Tigers. She recorded 4-RBI games in each of the final two games of the series and added an inside-the-park home run in the second inning of Sunday’s series finale.
