Former UNC Wilmington head coach Kristy Norton is joining the staff of USA Softball of North Carolina.
The organization announced Norton’s new role earlier in December; she will hold the title of recruiting coordinator with the state chapter.
“She loves to teach the game, help young people and families, and wants to continue to help grow the game,” USA Softball of North Carolina commissioner Tim Doby said. “Coach Nort enjoys spending time working collegiate camps around North Carolina and surrounding states. She knows what it takes for young athletes to play in college and understands the scholarship portfolio for fully funded programs and for those programs who don’t have many scholarships.”
Norton resigned as head coach of UNC Wilmington following the 2022 season, when she led the Seahawks to the CAA tournament championship and an NCAA tournament berth. She spent ten seasons leading the program, collecting a 217-250-1 overall record. The 2022 tournament title was the program’s first CAA crown.
Prior to taking over at UNCW, Norton spent eight seasons as an assistant on staff at James Madison and two years as an assistant at UNC Greensboro.
