Pittsburgh is hiring Lacy Schurr as an assistant coach, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.
Schurr spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Ball State, leading the Cardinals to a second-place finish in the MAC standings in 2021 and a berth in the conference tournament in 2023.
Formerly Lacy Wood, the move to Pittsburgh reunites her with head coach Jenny Allard; the pair spent five years on staff together at Harvard from 2016-20. During their tenure together at Harvard, the Crimson made back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2018 and ’19.
In addition to her tenure at Harvard, Schurr’s resume includes three years on staff at Eastern Kentucky and one year at Louisville, her alma mater.
During the 2023 season, Pitt posted a 24-25 overall record with a 6-17 showing in ACC play. The Panthers’ offense batted to a cumulative .286 average, with 53 home runs, 248 runs scored, and a team OPS of .839.
