Scouting Report: Jazmyn is a powerful lefty with a great swing and is athletic enough to play multiple positions because she does so much so well. At PGF Nationals this week she’s playing third base and in one snared a rocket hit to her right that she effortlessly snared. She hits tape-measure bombs including one at the So Cal A’s Invitational that was estimated to have gone 270 feet as it landed in the top of a tree. The Utah native also has great game presence and intellect and knows strategically what to do on the basepaths to get the extra base or bait defenders into making a wrong throw.

*****

Jazmyn pumps herself each at-bat by telling herself “I’m a beast!”

What’s your approach to hitting that you believe has made you successful?
I tell myself I’m a beast every time I step into the box and for the most part it has made me successful because I believe it even when I don’t get the outcome I wanted.

What’s been your highlight of your career and why?
Playing for my dad has been the highlight of my career because there is nobody in the world who can push me as hard as he does every day and it formed me into the player I am today.

What’s been the #1 thing in your mind that’s helped you develop as a good hitter?
My combination of speed and power. Hitting is just part of the game getting on base an scoring is the game so I believe it’s power but even when I hit a ball wrong still being about to leg one out.

What goes through your mind as you step into the batter’s box?
“You’re a beast.”

Other than the obvious, getting on base, what would you qualify as a successful at-bat?
Hitting the ball solid. I understand that you’re not going to get on base every single time because there’s a defense out there an there job is to get you out but as long as you hit the ball hard with a disciplined plan that’s quality.

Jazmyn says of her father, Fred Rollin: “My dad is the one who inspires me to be the successful person I am today”

Who’s a player, past or present, you look up to and why?
Cortni Emanuel. She is a triple threat an people don’t know how to play her defensive wise because she is fast but she can also turn on one an hit it over the fence.

When did you first realize you had the ability to play at the next level?
When I was 16 playing in 18U Gold tournaments. I tested myself and still was very successful.

What is it you love about softball if you were explaining your passion for the sport to someone not familiar with it?
I would tell them the game is 80 percent failure but when you succeed that 20 percent it’s the best feeling because you overcame something that you weren’t supposed to.
