Former Oklahoma outfielder Mackenzie Donihoo and Marshall slugger Mya Stevenson each entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on Monday, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.
Donihoo has not played for Oklahoma since April 10th and, towards the end of the regular season, was confirmed to be away from the team and would not be returning this season. Donihoo’s transfer was anticipated, though she did not enter her name into the portal until Monday.
After batting .145 in her first season as a Sooner, Donihoo posted a .438 average with nine home runs and 43 runs scored last season, earning acclaim for her defensive work during OU’s Women’s College World Series run. Prior to departing the OU program, Donihoo had assembled a .250 batting average and twelve hits in 48 at-bats during the 2022 season.
Stevenson, who carries a graduate transfer designation, was a three-time All-Conference USA selection during her time at Marshall. She earned all-CUSA first-team honors in 2019 and was an all-region performer that same season; she earned second-team all-CUSA honors in both 2021 and ’22.
During the Herd’s run at the Conference USA tournament last week, Stevenson set the Marshall program’s home run record with her 59th career longball. The record-breaking home run was a 7th-inning longball that tied an elimination game that Marshall would ultimately go on to win.
The pair of newfound portal entrants were among more than 30 players who entered their names in the transfer portal on Monday morning, per sources.
