All-SEC dual threat star Makinzy Herzog will not return to Texas A&M for the 2023 season, sources informed Extra Inning Softball.
On Thursday, a Texas A&M spokesperson confirmed Herzog’s departure. “She has opted to not use her fifth season of eligibility after all,” the spokesperson said.
Following her freshman season at Florida State in 2019, Herzog transferred to Texas A&M and spent the next three seasons in College Station. She departs the Aggies’ roster with one year of eligibility still outstanding.
Herzog’s career in Aggieland included 70 pitching appearances and 136 total games played. An All-SEC honoree in 2021 and ’22, she also earned all-region honors in both years. She ends her college career with a 2.38 lifetime ERA, 34 wins, 329 strikeouts, and an opponent’s batting average of .191. She also boasts a career .323 batting average, 27 home runs, 113 RBIs, and 53 stolen bases.
