Earlier this year, when Monica Abbott appeared on the From the Cheap Seats podcast, she mentioned a new project that she had in the words.
Now that project has come to fruition. Abbott’s book, Rise and Shine: The Monica Abbott Story”, has been officially released.
From a press release:
“Co-authored by Debby and Rob Schriver, Abbott chronicles significant lessons and experiences from her childhood, her University of Tennessee and professional softball years, her time in the Olympics, and beyond. Throughout the book, she shares insights cultivated on her journey, offering them to readers of all ages and skill sets to consider as they endeavor to bring their lives into contact with their dreams.”
The book is being published through the University of Tennessee Press and will be released to the general public in May. Copies of the book will, however, be on sale at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium this weekend during the Tennessee vs. Florida series; Abbott is also scheduled to make a number of special appearances around her alma mater this weekend to promote the book.
In addition to appearing at the Lady Vols’ series against Florida, Abbott will take part in a Meet & Greet at Union Avenue Books in Knoxville; throw out the first pitch of Friday’s baseball game between Tennessee and Vanderbilt; take part in softball’s Alumni Day festivities on Saturday; conduct a book signing at Regal Soccer Stadium on Sunday; and throw out the first pitch of Monday’s Tennessee/Florida series finale.
