The Georgia Board of Regents approved a multi-million dollar improvement project to Jack Turner Softball Stadium earlier this week.
Carrying a price tag of $38.5 million, the project will be funded by reserve funds and private donations. It was approved alongside a similar project for the Bulldog baseball program.
According to local media reports, Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks said earlier this year that the projects are expected to be completed by the 2025 season.
New LED field lights, a new player facility beyond the left field wall, and a renovation of existing team areas into coaches’ offices are all part of the approved project. Among the planned amenities in the player facility would be a weight room and indoor practice area, as well as a clubhouse with locker room, training room, nutrition station, lounge, and team meeting areas.
Georgia is currently set to host the 2024 SEC softball tournament; sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball that the Bulldogs will instead swap hosting years with Auburn – the originally-scheduled hosts in 2025 – in order to host the conference tournament following their stadium renovations and updates.
