North Carolina has added infielder Sara Jubas to its roster, the program announced on Wednesday morning.
Jubas will be a ‘super senior’ in her final season of eligibility in 2022, and brings both a veteran presence and a powerful bat to the Tar Heels’ lineup.
“Sara is an outstanding defensive middle infielder and a leader on the field,” UNC head coach Donna Papa said in a school statement. “Her defensive abilities and her bat are proven and make her a game changer the moment she steps on the field. Watching her play during her career, especially last May in Oklahoma City, only solidified her instant credibility as a proven winner on and off the field.”
A four-year starter at James Madison, Jubas was a three-time VaSID First-Team selection, twice an all-region selection, and twice an all-conference honoree. She finished her Dukes career with 202 career hits and was part of the group that led JMU on their magical run to the Women’s College World Series.
While at the Women’s College World Series, Jubas anchored the shortstop position for the Dukes and also hit the program’s first-ever WCWS home run, against Oklahoma in the tournament-opening victory over the Sooners.
A career .381 hitter in college, Jubas owns 38 career home runs, 141 RBIs, and scored 160 runs during her time in Harrisonburg.
Jubas is currently a first-year graduate student in Pharmacy School at UNC.
