Northern Illinois has extended head coach Christina Sutcliffe’s contract.
Sutcliffe’s deal, which was set to expire following the 2023 season, will now stretch through the completion of the 2025 campaign.
In eleven seasons at the helm of the Huskies’ program, Sutcliffe owns a 269-290 overall record and is the 3rd-winningest-coach in NIU program history. She is also the 4th-longest-tenured coach in program history; the term of the new extension will tie her for third in that category.
During her tenure, the Huskies won the MAC West Division title in 2016 and have appeared twice in the conference tournament championship game, most recently in 2018.
The 2023 season saw the Huskies post a 26-25 overall record, with a 15-13 mark against Mid-American Conference foes.
Prior to her tenure at NIU, Sutcliffe’s coaching resume includes a tenure as head coach at Rhode Island and stints as an assistant at Miami (Ohio) and Chattanooga.
