Wow.
That was the only word that could describe Monday, the first day of Bracket Play at the 2018 PGF 18U Premier Nationals and it was only a half day to the always impressive Opening Ceremonies held in Huntington Beach’s Central Park.
We knew from the Saturday morning blind draw that some very good teams would go down in the first game of the day Monday and some of them in play-in games.

Let’s just put it this way: the organizations that won the first six 18U Premier national titles–the So Cal A’s (the first four) and the OC Batbusters (the next two) lost today.
As did some other very reputable programs who’ve traditionally had success at PGF and/or nationally: the Birmingham Thunderbolts, Texas Blaze (Slimp), AASA, Iowa Premier, EC Bullets-Schnute, DeMarini Aces and the Fury Platinum, for starters.
