Justin McLeod of Justin’s Word of Softball reported on Friday that the Oregon Ducks have received a pitching transfer to replace the loss of Miranda Elish, who announced in mid-October that she would follow former Oregon Head Coach Mike White to Texas.
In his article on Friday, Justin wrote:
Former Virginia Tech left-hander Jordan Dail is transferring to Oregon, according to a press release from the school Thursday morning.
Dail spent her freshman season at Virginia Tech, posting a 3.07 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 98 innings. Opponents hit .209 against Dail during the southpaw’s first collegiate season, a year that began with a streak of more than 20 innings pitched without giving up an earned run.
At Oregon, Dail will join a pitching staff that includes reigning Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year Megan Kleist, as well as former all-conference selection Maggie Balint.
Both Kleist and Balint are right-handed pitchers, while Dail will fill the left-hander slot that was vacated by the transfer of Miranda Elish earlier in the fall.
Dail is the first collegiately-experienced roster addition under first-year head coach Melyssa Lombardi.
Six players – including Elish, all-conference outfielder Shannon Rhodes, and would-be starting catcher Mary Iakopo, among others – have all left the Ducks via the transfer portal since the start of fall practice.
Having received a release from Virginia Tech, Dail will be immediately eligible for the Ducks in 2019.
