Penn State starting catcher Ally Kurland has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources informed Extra Inning Softball’s Justin McLeod on Saturday.
Kurland’s name appeared in the portal on Friday and carries a graduate transfer designation. As of Saturday morning, Kurland is still listed on the Nittany Lions’ online roster.
Thanks to the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver, Kurland has two seasons of eligibility left entering the 2022 campaign.
During the 2021 season, Kurland led the Nittany Lions in four offensive categories, including hits, RBIs, home runs, and slugging percentage. Her five home runs were a career high and included a multi-home run game against Rutgers.
As a freshman in 2019, Kurland started 51 games between the catcher and designated player positions before cementing her role as the team’s starting catcher in 2020 and 2021. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of the last two seasons.
She is a native of Burke, Virginia.
