UC San Diego has hired Rachel Garcia as the program’s new pitching coach.
Garcia spent the 2022 season as the volunteer assistant coach at San Diego State; the SDSU position was her first collegiate coaching role.
One of the most decorated players in college softball history, Garcia was a two-time National Player of the Year at UCLA. A four-time All-American during a career that stretched from 2017-21, Garcia also earned a trio of conference Player of the Year awards and was the PAC 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2019.
A veteran member of Team USA, Garcia was part of the United States’ Olympic roster at the 2020 Tokyo Games. She earned a silver medal in Tokyo, appearing in one game for the red, white, and blue.
