It seems we at Extra Inning Softball can’t go a week without reporting a new verbal to Gerry Glasco’s Louisiana-Lafayette program and if you followed our recent Extra Elite 100 rankings for the Class of 2022, you know that Cassie Boatright was rated very highly, in the Top 20.
Cassie is a middle infielder who plays for Loganville Christian Academy in Walton County, Georgia and also is a key component on Jason Gusaeff’s 14U team which—as you’ll see next week in our 14U club team rankings—is one of the best in the nation at that age division.
Says Coach Gusaeff about his standout 8th grade infielder:
“Cassie has great range and speed and can play anywhere in the infield or outfield. She has soft hands with a big arm that is accurate from anywhere on the field. At the plate she is a power hitter that hits for a high average and works with (noted hitting instructor) Lincoln Martin every week.”
“Cassie led our team in home runs last year and may be the youngest on our team but she is mature beyond her years and is a leader on and off the field. She has made so many plays and come through with clutch hits for us in the past but we will go back to 8U when we knew we had someone special.”
“We were down three runs with two outs in our last at bat in the championship game and she hit a walk-off grand slam to win the game. It was one of those moments where you knew she had a big future in softball. We are so proud of all of her accomplishments and she is so deserving of the attention she has received.”
All-State in softball as an 8th grader his past fall and All-Region in basketball, Cassie had heavy interest from major programs including SEC schools, but there was one common denominator that kept coming back to her in the recruiting process—her interest in playing for Coach Gerry Glasco.
