Former Arizona standout Reyna Carranco is joining the coaching staff at Arkansas, the program announced on Thursday.
Carranco played at Arizona from 2017-21 and was part of the group that took the Wildcats to back-to-back Women’s College World Series appearances in 2019 and 2021. This is her first college coaching position.
An All-American in 2019, Carranco won the PAC-12 batting title that same season, finishing the year with a .433 batting average. She notched 74 base hits, scored 51 runs, and set career highs in RBIs (40), doubles (13), and home runs (5).
During her career in Tucson, Carranco batted .353 with an .874 OPS. She collected 34 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, and 108 RBIs, along with six stolen bases as a Wildcat. She earned All-PAC 12 honors in each year of her career that the award was presented.
In a school press release, Arkansas head coach Courtney Deifel said, “We’re so excited about this addition to our staff. Reyna will bring a fresh perspective, and I’m looking forward to adding her energy into the mix. Her playing experience speaks for itself having played for the University of Arizona and its championship tradition. Reyna is a proven winner and competitor, and I cannot wait to welcome her insight into our coaching room. She will elevate our program in every possible way.”
