The Wisconsin Badgers had a Top 25 recruiting class with five signees including four in the Extra Inning Softball Top 120 including a pair in the 2019 Extra Elite 100 highlighted by Abby Herbst, a 5-foot-11 pitcher/infielder who came in at #41 in the rankings.
Abby has been a three-time All-State honoree for her Center Grove (Greenwood, Indiana) High team and in three years at the prep level so far has batted .583 with 131 RBI in 90 games and compiled a 50-3 pitching record with a 0.89 ERA and a great strikeout-to-walks ration with 332 Ks to 42 free passes.

She had top programs from the Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC after her before choosing the Badgers on Independence Day two years ago, certainly setting off a celebration for Abby and her family that was fireworks-worthy!
When she signed on November 14, her future Badger head coach, Yvette Healy, said of the two-way standout:
“Abby Herbst is one of the most feared and highly recruited power lefty hitters in the game… as a pitcher, first baseman, Abby can help control the game on both sides of the ball. She’s smart and savvy on the mound, knowing how to contain hitters and induce weak contact. After competing for Coach (Jim) Huecker’s very talented Louisville Lady Sluggers organization, Abby will walk in the door ready to make an immediate contribution.”
