Stephen F. Austin has hired Jeff Jackson as the program’s new head coach.
Jackson spent the last six seasons as head coach at Odessa College, most recently leading that program to 54 wins and a berth in the JuCo World Series this season. It was the second-consecutive championship tournament trip for the Wranglers.
Prior to Odessa College, Jackson spent three seasons as head softball coach at Ranger College as well as two years as an assistant baseball coach at the school. He also coached baseball at McMurry University, his alma mater.
In a statement, SFA athletic director Ryan Ivey noted that the school “wanted someone that understood and would embrace our AXEEM core values, and would focus on providing leadership and stability to our softball program, and most importantly, our student-athletes.”
Jackson is the third head coach in as many years at SFA, following Nicole Dickson, who ended a six-year tenure after the 2022 campaign, and Richie Bruister’s one-year stint in 2023. During the 2023 season, the Ladyjacks were 30-24 overall with a 15-9 showing in conference play.
