Arizona and pitching coach Taryne Mowatt-McKinney have parted ways, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.
The Wildcats’ pitching coach position was publicly posted for applicants late Wednesday.
Mowatt-McKinney completed her sixth season as the Wildcats’ pitching coach with the 2023 campaign. During her tenure on staff in Tucson, Mowatt-McKinney was part of the staff that guided the Wildcats to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances from 2019-22.
In her first three seasons back in Tucson, Mowatt-McKinney led the Wildcat bullpen to a sub-2.00 ERA in each year, the first time the feat had been accomplished in three consecutive seasons since Mowatt-McKinney herself was in the circle from 2006-08.
During the 2023 season, the Arizona pitching staff posted a 4.26 ERA with 248 strikeouts and a .268 opponent’s batting average in 330 innings of work.
Prior to her tenure on staff at Arizona, Mowatt-McKinney spent tenures on staff at Cal Baptist and Ole Miss, where she was part of the Rebels’ 2017 SEC tournament championship run.
